Sadly, there was no multiplayer experience available on the XBOX version of HALO because XBOX Live had not been developed.
There was however, the option of single console split-screen play or LAN play via a router. With a single console only a maximum of four players is available, but with the LAN option up to sixteen people could play.

The PC game brought with it something new to the HALO series online multiplayer mode. So now all those HALO fanatics could kick back and play online waiting for HALO 2 to come out on PC.
